Tucson's City Council has formally adopted the Safe City Action Plan, a strategy developed by the SafeCity Initiative to address concerns about homelessness, drug use, and crime. The plan addresses six key priorities including housing, behavioral health, violence prevention, collaboration, accountability, and community engagement. Efforts could include increasing the number of officers stationed in higher-crime areas. The city's mayor, Regina Romero, said the plan will be measured through a public-facing dashboard tracking several performance indicators, including bus stop safety incidents and clean-up events. The council also expanded on efforts to reduce illegal street racing and make street takeovers a felony.
