Former Cleveland councilwoman returns to City Hall as Bibb’s lead safety advisor

Former City Councilwoman Rebecca Maurer has been appointed as one of Mayor Justin Bibb's chief advisors on preventing children from lead poisoning. She will be Senior Advisor for Lead Accountability and will earn $152,000 a year. Her role will be similar to that of Leigh Anderson, who leads Bibb’s Police Accountability Team. Maurer, who has spent a decade working on lead-safe housing in Cleveland, plans to coordinate efforts on lead. Her top priority will be grant administration and legislative changes aligned with the city's lead ecosystem. Despite past disagreements with Council President Blaine Griffin, both Maurer and Blair Blair have praised her work.
