Denver Summit FC is set to begin its inaugural season in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), starting at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at Bay FC in San Jose, California. Despite being an expansion team, the team's expectation is to win a championship. Defender Janine Sonis, who grew up in Colorado and played high school soccer at Valor Christian, said the team has a clear identity and believes they will be difficult to beat. The team is currently training at Infinity Park while their new training facility is being constructed in Centennial. Their first opponent, Bay FC, is a test case in NWSL expansion.
