A resident of a living pod at the North Portland Road safe rest village, Portland Fire & Rescue, died when the pod caught fire, nearly completely consumed by the flames. The fire was extinguished after staff members attempted to extinguish the flames with handheld extinguishers but it was too hot and large for them to manage. The city of Portland is operated by Urban Alchemy and the ensuing fire did not spread to other pods.
