The four astronauts from the US-led Artemis II mission, aboard the Orion spacecraft, set a new record for the farthest distance from Earth traveled by any human. The mission, officially launched from the John F. Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Florida, will help advance U.S. ambitions for a permanent lunar colony and a manned mission to Mars. The record was broken on Flight Day Six, exceeding the record 248,655-mile distance set by the Apollo 13 mission. The astronauts offered their remarks after breaking the record. They also expressed their admiration for the training and support provided by the team.
