Top-seeded Duke is set to play against No. 16 Siena in the NCAA Tournament, marking a rare occurrence where former players who won national championships as players are now coaches. Duke's Jon Scheyer was a multi-year starter and All-American for the Blue Devils, while Sien's Gerry McNamara scored 2,099 career points with Syracuse. This is only the eighth time in NCAA Tournament history that former players have become coaches. Former Syracuse coach and college basketball Hall of Famer Jim Boeheim praised McNamara's performance this season, crediting him for saving a season that otherwise would have ended without victory.
