President Donald Trump has stated that U.S. citizens will be "well protected" as he considers whether to escalate the war with Iran, a decision expected within hours. This comes after a warning posted on Truth Social, warning of catastrophic consequences if Iran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face strikes on critical infrastructure that he has warned would send the country back to the “stone ages” as a whole civilization will die. The White House has given Iran until 8 p.m. on a deadline this evening to reopen the strait or face possible strikes on vital infrastructure. Meanwhile, the US. has struck dozens of military targets on Iran’s Kharg Island overnight, while Israel is seeking a longer runway to press its campaign against Tehran and further weaken the regime. Vice President JD Vance has suggested that Iran may choose between diplomacy or deeper economic and military confrontation.
