The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) temporarily halted flight operations at three major airports near Washington, D.C., due to a strong chemical odor at a nearby air traffic control facility. The disruption affected operations at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Washington Dulles International Airport, Baltimore-Washington International Airport and Richmond International Airport. The FAA issued a ground stop due to the strong odor at the Potomac Terminal Radar Approach Control facility, Potomaca TRACON. Some departures have already resumed following the temporary ground stop, but delays and operational restrictions could remain until around midnight as crews work to fully restore normal flight traffic.
