President Donald Trump is set to make a rare West Coast trip to California and Nevada to discuss the economy, which polls show is weak on. He will be visiting his golf club in Rancho Palos Verdes for an RNC fundraising event and will speak at a fundraising dinner for the Republican National Committee. During the trip, he is likely to criticize California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat who is considered a likely candidate for his party's presidential nomination in 2028. Only 32% of U.S. adults approved of Trump's handling of the economy in a recent AP-NORC poll. The president's overall approval rating is 33%, slightly below where he stood at this point in his first term.
