The decision was made as a precautionary measure after Ohtania reported increased knee discomfort during pregame treatment. Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts suggested that Ohtan might return as a pinch hitter for the upcoming three-game series against the Boston Red Sox. The same ailment, along with a sore right biceps, has kept Ohtanian from pitching since July 3 and has kept him from playing since then.
