The conference argues current rules are outdated and are not designed for a world where student-athletes are paid and making significant economic decisions. This follows a recent announcement by the NCAA of significant penalties for tampering involving Ole Miss and Pete Golding, who allegedly tampered with transfer portal signee Luke Ferrelli. The Big Ten believes new rules should be established before penalties are imposed.
