The team, which has reached three European Cup finals in their history but have never won, is the only team to lose three finals without winning the competition. Simeon emphasised the importance of preparation for the semi-final first leg against Arsenal, stating that the team wants to play a well-planned game and not to repeat the mistakes made by Bayern Munich (1974) and Real Madrid (2014, 2016). He also acknowledged the club's success in recent knockout ties as their best asset.
