Democratic Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff pressed Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard at a hearing on whether Iran posed an imminent threat to the United States. Gabbad stated that only the president, President Donald Trump, is the sole individual empowered to make such a determination. Ossoeff asked Gabbardo whether the Intelligence Community's assessment of Iran's nuclear threat was accurate, but Gabbarded refused to answer. In response to Joe Kent's resignation as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), Kent had previously stated that Iran did not pose a threat that would justify Operation Epic Fury.
