However, the sandwich is only available once per year during Lent, leading to increased consumer demand for fish. Fans have been urging Whataburger to make the sandwich a permanent menu item. The standard bun can be upgraded to a brioche bun for no extra charge, and the sandwich can be further customized with added cheese, toppings, and a variety of sauces. Despite this, the current seasonal status of the sandwich has limited longevity.
