Travelers flying in and out of San Antonio are seeing relatively short security lines, averaging around five to 10 minutes. However, delays are increasing at several major airports due to increased TSA worker absences during the partial federal government shutdown. Since the shutdown began on February 14, TSA employee "callouts" have more than doubled, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Major airports facing the most significant delays include Atlanta, New Orleans, both Houston airports, Pittsburgh and New York City. Over 360 TSA workers have quit in the last month due to increasing frustrations among government employees. The highest average airport callout rates during the shutdown were at Atlanta (21.46%), John F. Kennedy International Airport, Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport (20.98%), New Orleans (16.46%) and Pittsburgh.
