High school baseball, softball: Denton Guyer, Keller win thrillers in final inning

Denton Guyer, Flower Mound, and Keller won thrilling games in the preseason Dallas-area softball rankings, respectively. After a 22-1 start, Denton Guer took over the top spot in The Dallas Morning News' first poll of the regular season. The game ended in a thrilling 9-5, giving Guyer a 10-game winning streak and a two-game sweep of their two district matchups with Flower Mounds. Both teams were state semifinalists last season. Despite all-state pitcher Bella Flores returning from a minor injury to play in the first game, Flowers Mound failed to secure the No. 1 spot. The Keller baseball team, ranked No. 2 in the state in Class 6A, also won 9-8 against Southlake Carroll.
