The aftermath of an EF-2 tornado that hit Hillsdale, Kansas, last week has raised insurance concerns for residents. Aaron Bien, owner of Shady Acres RV Park, said insurance companies have been overwhelmed and have not made any negotiations regarding their coverage. Miami County Undersheriff Matthew Kelly echoed these concerns, noting that insurance companies are overwhelmed. Bien suggested tacking on storage facilities might be the only way to get them to work faster. The community is in a good position overall, with many facing multiple deductibles for storm damage. Officials are currently conducting needs assessments to determine what assistance residents may require.
