Charlie Kirk murder suspect pushes to ban cameras from court
Published on April 17, 2026.
Tyler Robinson, the man accused of murdering Charlie Kirk, is seeking a judge to ban cameras from the courtroom during his trial. His attorneys argue that live broadcasts of the prosecution are violating his right to a fair trial. They cite examples such as a New York Post story suggesting Robinson confessed to Kirk's killing during a courtroom conversation. The judge has already had to temporarily stop the livestream after Robinson's attorneys argued that close-up shots of Robinson being livestreamed by a local television station could lead to false claims. Media organizations, prosecutors and Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk, have urged the court to allow cameras to guard against misinformation and conspiracy theories.
