Stephen Colbert, the late-night host of CBS's The Late Show, is set to adapt the next Lord of the Rings movie for New Line, with producers Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens, and Fran Walsh. The film will be based on "Fogs on the Barrow-downs," the eighth chapter of The Fellowship of the Ring, where Hobbits are trapped in an unnatural fog. This is not the first time Colbert has adapted the book; he has previously hosted panels at Comic-Con for both the Amazon series and The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies.
