CMS board of education considers cancelling classes because of teacher rally in Raleigh - WCCB Charlotte

Teachers from across North Carolina are heading to Raleigh, North Carolina on May 1st to urge state lawmakers to pass a budget that supports education and demands corporations to pay their fair share. Over 1,800 out of 9,000 teachers in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools have requested leave requests, leading to the possibility of canceling classes. At least seven other districts in the state have also decided to cancel class that day. The board of education is considering making a decision regarding classes on the day of the rally. The rally aims to pressure legislators into passing a budget favoring education and reinstating higher corporate taxes.
