Oswego East's Olivia Owles, a senior center fielder, has found success in her position as a slapper due to her speed and ability to put pressure on opposing defenses. She has been batting leadoff and reaching base safely in five of six at-bats, helping OswegoEast secure an 18-7 nonconference victory over West Aurora. Owles and senior second baseman Katie Maday were all but interchangeable at the top of the batting order. Despite not running track, Owles has been a standout player in the field last season and plans to focus on academics instead of baseball. She also plans to target more stolen bases for the Wolves this season.
