The incident occurred during a scene where Griff, Spike, and their cohorts were chasing Marty McFly on hoverboards. The stunt was choreographed and resulted in a collision with a column, leading to Wheeler being dropped 20 feet onto the concrete below. Vogel's injury was so severe that fans mistakenly believed Vogel was the injured.
