Warner Bros. has a reputation for canceling projects for tax purposes, with several projects including Batgirl, and several Scooby-Doo. Another movie, Coyote vs. Acme, was almost cancelled after fan backlash and was saved by indie distributor Ketchup Entertainment. The film is based on a New Yorker article about Wile E. Coyote's legal battle against Acme and features appearances from classic Looney Tunes characters. The movie was initially scheduled for release in July 2023 but is now set for August 2026. The main selling point of the film is its controversial origin story, which Warner Bros. almost feared would become lost media.
