The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) has shared seven tips to celebrate Earth Day with a focus on protecting wildlife's natural resources. These include downloading the iNaturalist app and providing data to assist in animal monitoring. Submitting photos of year-round bird sightings to eBird can help biologists track migration patterns and population size. Reducing plastic use and avoiding single-use plastics can cause digestive issues and vehicle collisions with wildlife. Turn off outdoor lights at night and increase window safety during migration periods, as many birds die each year from flying into windows on buildings. The DWR urges people not to feed wildlife, which can spread chronic wasting disease and digestive issues. It also urges people to clean their boots and equipment from body of water to prevent the spread of invasive species.
