CNN senior data analyst Harry Enten has suggested that the Democrats' victory in a Florida State House seat that includes Mar-a-Lago could signal a trend suggesting that November's midterms could be a blue wave. The Democrat's victory over Trump-endorsed Republican Jon Maples was part of a "massive shift" from the district's previous winner, who won by 11 points. Since President Trump began his second term, Democrats have taken up several state legislative seats backed by double digits by the 2024 presidential election, including those in Florida, Texas, Georgia, Iowa and Pennsylvania. Enten also noted that historically, special elections have predicted what will happen in the midterm elections.
