The Bethel Police Department has identified the officer involved in a recent officer-involved shooting, Patrol Officer Ceaira Preuett. The incident occurred when a man approached Preuet with a knife and refused to drop it. The man was transported to an Anchorage-area hospital for treatment of serious injuries, but has not been charged with any crimes. The case will be reviewed by the Alaska Office of Special Prosecutions once it is completed.
