The Chicago Cubs are expected to make their opening-day roster appear as healthy as possible in spring training. The team returns the majority of its 92-win squad from last year and is confident in its ability to replicate another playoff season. However, there are still a few roster battles in camp for the bullpen and bench positions. Left-hander Justin Steele is expected to join the rotation in May or June. The Cubs also have a strong starting pitching depth, with potential replacements for key high-leverage arms such as Ben Brown, Javier Assad, Colin Rea, and Jordan Wicks. The only uncertainty is about the catching group, with 22-year-old L.A. prospect Jaxon Wiggins progressing at Triple-A Iowa.
