Petitions to repeal annexation and rezoning fall short

The Joplin City Council has reviewed the results of a petition drive by a group called Jopled Sustainable Technology Alliance (JSTA) aimed to repeal the annexation and rezoning of hundreds of acres on the city's west side. The group had hoped to collect just over 5,000 signatures on both petitions. Each petition received about half of the required signatures. However, these petitions were deemed insufficient by the council. The JSTA is still working to secure a moratorium on the construction of other data centers in the city.
