U.S. Reps. Burgess Owens and Mike Kennedy of Utah have criticized European allies for not supporting President Donald Trump in the war against Iran. The comments were made during a panel at the Utah Republican Party’s state organizing convention. On Wednesday, Trump threatened to remove the United States from the NATO military defense alliance and called for countries to do more to protect oil supply. The UK has also met with 40 countries to demand that Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a Persian Gulf oil route that has been shut down by Iran. Kennedy said that Europe's refusal to aid the U.S., citing the cost of maintaining air bases as a small request considering the amount of money spent to keep Europe safe.
