A Pew Research Center survey has found that a survey of 3,605 U.S. adults asked them a simple question: whether being extremely wealthy is morally wrong. The responses split across generational lines, with 33% of Americans aged 18 to 29 believing being extremely rich is morally right, the highest share of any age group surveyed. This sentiment shifts sharply with age, with only 10% of those aged 65 and older agreeing. Overall, 63% of all respondents said that being incredibly rich is not a moral issue worthy of any ethical judgment, while 18% went further and described accumulating billionaire-level wealth as morally acceptable. The political divide on billionaire wealth runs deeper than expected, with Democrats four times as likely as Republicans to believe it is immoral.
