Carlos Rodon adjusting to rising velocity that ‘makes no sense’ as his Yankees buildup continues

Carlos Rodón, a New York Yankees pitcher, is finding his velocity increasing when he stops trying to throw as hard due to his increased workload and increased his range of motion in his left arm following elbow surgery. The Yankees hope that the results of the surgery, which shaved down a bone spur and removed loose bodies in Rodón's left elbow, will result in an increase in velocity after Rodón lost some last season due to the injury. Despite the increased velocity, Rodón still has a long way to go before he could join the Yankees in late April or early May. Manager Aaron Boone expressed excitement about Rodón’s progress and noted that he has responded well to everything and hasn't rushed anything with him.
