Country singer-songwriter David Allan Coe, who helped define Nashville's "outlaw" sound of the 1970s and '80s, has died at the age of 86. His death was announced by his wife to Rolling Stone magazine. Coe was a major part of the 'outlaw country' movement that swept Nashville in the mid-1970s, offering listeners a rougher, rawer, rebellious approach to country. His song "Take This Job and Shove It" was a hit for Johnny Paycheck in 1977 and inspired a feature film comedy of the same name in 1981. Despite his popularity, Coe continued to push boundaries with his racy lyrics, particularly on his albums "Nothing Sacred" and "The Underground Album". His final album was released in 2006 by heavy metal group Pantera.
