BBC Sport has announced that it will end Football Focus at the end of the current season due to changing audience behaviour. The programme, first broadcast in 1974, has been a staple of the BBC's football coverage for decades. It will be replaced by a larger digital output and a new slate of exclusive shows on YouTube aimed at bringing football coverage to the widest audiences across television, radio, online and its extensive social platforms. The decision was made before the wider BBC savings announcement, reflecting the shift in how audiences engage with football. Alex Scott, fronted by Football Focus, will continue to play a key role in BBC Sport’s football coverage and coverage of the FIFA World Cup, the 2027 FIFA Women’�s World Cup and the ongoing coverage of Women's Super League.
