The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, is set to close on July 7, with President Donald Trump stating it is needed to make urgently needed repairs to the complex. Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH), an ex-officio member of the board, is seeking a court order to block the closure, arguing that the decision was rushed and lacked adequate review. She is also asking for the removal of Trump's name from the center. The renovation plans are funded by $257 million from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Over $47 million will be spent on infrastructure, including $18 million for plaza level waterproofing, $6 million for garage repairs and subgrade waterproofing and $14 million for the terrace level overhang and roof.
