Stanford athletics capture NCAA championship for 50th straight year

Stanford University has won an NCAA championship for a 50th consecutive year, thanks to former tennis player and coach Dick Gould. The university's dominance began in 1976 with a 13-12 men's water polo triumph over UCLA. No other university currently comes close to North Carolina with seven. The current streak includes 126 of Stanford's 138 overall NCAA team titles. Women's tennis at Stanford ranks No. 1 with 20 team titles, men’s tennis has 15, women’�s swimming and diving have 11 each, and women‘s gymnastics have 10 each.
