Two northern Kentucky women, Delsia Bare and Ida Huddleston, have declined an offer to sell around 600 acres of farmland for $26 million, with the prospective buyers seeking to build an AI data center on their land. The family owns about 1,200 acres outside of Maysville and the parcel that the anonymous company wanted to purchase was about half of the land. While the offer was considered a good deal, the family did not want to sell the land as long as it fed them and provided protection. AI data centers have been criticized for their excessive energy use and high electricity prices.
