A Secret Service officer was shot during a shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, but survived thanks to a bulletproof vest, according to President Trump. The officer was treated at a local hospital and has since been released. The suspected gunman, Cole Allen, allegedly stormed a security checkpoint and entered the event armed with two firearms and multiple knives. The incident occurred just 20 minutes after Trump arrived at the annual dinner at the Washington Hilton. The gunman was quickly confronted and taken down before he could reach the main ballroom. DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro stated that Allen is facing charges including assault on a federal law enforcement officer and two counts of using a firearm to commit violence.
