When Christine, known online as Seafood Clowder, adopted Boomer the beagle from her grandparents in 2016, he weighed 62.2 lbs. After discovering that her grandmother, who has dementia, was feeding Boomer 8 times a day and feeding him a significant amount, Boomer's size became too large for her. The 28-year-old woman intervened when Boomer became too heavy for her grandmother. She took him to the vet to confirm that an underlying medical issue was not causing the weight gain, but excessive calories and a lack of exercise were found to be the cause. They reduced his daily feedings to only two times per day and started taking Boomer on short walks after he lost some of his weight. Despite receiving hundreds of comments about her and her grandmother's weight loss, Christine insists that it is not feasible for them to take Boomer to a water treadmill.
