Hoboken May Regulate Airbnb Rentals During World Cup

Hoboken Councilman Joe Quintero has proposed to introduce more regulations around the city's Airbnbs during the World Cup. The city has not implemented many regulations regarding owners renting out condos and apartments, but rent-controlled buildings can only be offered according to the legal rent. Critics argue that any new regulations will not address concerns about strangers wandering through their buildings. Meanwhile, the mayor of the tiny Hudson County riverfront town of Guttenberg has partnered with Airbnb to promote units in his city.
