GOP lawmakers fume over pulled troop rotation in Poland: A ‘slap in the face’

Republican lawmakers have expressed dissatisfaction over the Pentagon's decision to cancel the temporary deployment of 4,000 troops to Poland, calling it a "slap in the face" and a "last-minute decision". The decision was made without statutory consultation with the House Armed Services Committee Chair Mike Rogers (R-Ala), Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and acting Army Chief of Staff Gen. Christopher LaNeve. The cancellation of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team's deployment to Poland came amid a rift between President Trump and European allies over the Iran war. Some elements of the unit had already been sent to Europe, with equipment in transit.
