Team Kekela, the first Hawaii club basketball team to win the adidas 3Stripes Gold 17U National Championship, secured a historic victory for the state. The tournament, which features top high school recruits from around the nation, saw the team advance from a regional tournament in California to secure a spot in the national bracket. They defeated Indiana's EG10 all-star team in South Carolina. The team's roster includes some of Hawaii's best young talent, including Punahou School star and tournament MVP Tanoa Scanlan, Kahuku High School state champion Ronin Naihe, and Iolani School senior Declan Beckette. The victory is seen as a significant win for Hawaii, showing the level of talent in basketball.
