Nasha Fitter and Farid Vij, a tech entrepreneur and tech entrepreneur, have launched Citizen Health, aiming to build an "AI advocate" for the rare disease community. The company is building one of the largest rare patient data networks of its kind and aims to use this aggregate data to help patients day-to-day and drive research to market faster. Citizen Health also organizes data from consenting patients to provide access to researchers to advance drug development and treatments without burdening those in these communities. The platform uses medical records, genetic information and patient-reported experiences to create a dataset that can be queried by patients, their families or clinicians to find answers. To date, Citizen Health has more than 8,000 rare disease patients on the platform across over 350 diseases and over 16 pharmaceutical companies using this data to advance treatments. The firm has raised $3030 million since its 2023 launch, including a $30 million Series A funding round led by 8VC, the Chan Transformation Capital, and the Zuckerberg Initiative.
