Spanish film Sorda (Deaf), directed by Eva Libertad, has won the LUX Audience Award from the European Parliament. The award was voted on by the European public and sitting members of the Parliament. Other films nominated for the award included Brendan Canty's Irish drama Christy and Love Me Tender from France. The film, which is being sold worldwide by Madrid-based Gatestone, is praised for its portrayal of a deaf woman expecting a child.
