U.S., Israel target Iranian cities, security forces

The United States and Israel have targeted Iran's capital and other cities in multiple airstrikes on the fifth day of the war with Iran. Israel targeted the Iranian leadership and security forces, while Iran responded with missile barrages and drone attacks. The Israeli military said one of its F-35 stealth fighter jets shot down a piloted Iranian Air Force YAK-130 fighter over Tehran. The U.S. State Department has evacuated non-emergency government personnel from Bahrain, where the conflict began. Nearly 800 people have been killed in Iran, including some considered future leaders. Brent crude prices have hit $84 a barrel, up over 15% since the start of the conflict and at its highest price since July 2024.
