The Gateway Development Commission has awarded the contract for the under-river section of the Hudson River Tunnel. The $1.3 billion contract will be divided between a joint venture of construction firms Traylor, Walsh and Skanska. The project will extend from the Jersey side of the river to New York City. The joint venture is expected to purchase two new, specialized tunnel boring machines for the project.
