These businesses accounted for over 50% of leased retail space last year, compared to 40% in the past 15 years. This shift is not just a local trend but also a national trend, with the Triangle's retail vacancy rate being only 2.5% and lower for spaces under 10,000 square feet. The surge in service tenants is helping keep vacancy rates low. Despite this, Life Time Fitness signed a 92,000-square-foot lease in Cary.
