The National Weather Service has issued a warning for "Extreme Heat Warming" weather, warning that extreme temperatures could cause heat exhaustion and heat cramps. However, there are also hidden costs such as treating those with heat-related illnesses, which are estimated to double during these periods. The Maricopa County Human Services Department reported that the total operating cost of the Heat Relief IGAs for 2023 was $1,755,088. The cost of these IGAs is also a significant cost for the homeless and those without air conditioning. The forecasted temperatures will be above normal across much of the West, including Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
