The Annecy Animation Showcase has returned to Cannes' Marché du Film for another year, showcasing five promising animated features from Japan, France, and Mexico. The collaboration between Cannes’ Marché Du Film and the Annecy Festival, which started in 2019 with an Animation Day, has been growing since. The Showcase represents a key extension of Annecy's commitment to supporting animation beyond the Festival itself. Alexandra Zakharchenko, head of industry programs at the Marché del Film, noted that animation's role within the broader ecosystem has evolved, with films like "Flow" debuting at Cannes 2024 and its Academy Award win. This shift reflects a shift in animation's representation across the market, with animation now embedded under the Cannes Animation umbrella. The projects selected for the Showcase include: Anime, Insect Stop Motion, Sci-Fi Cuisine and Oscar-Nominated Alain Gagnol.
