Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a new congressional map into effect, paving the way for Republicans to gain four seats in the House in November. The move comes after a US Supreme Court ruling on the Voting Rights Act that allowed red states to redisterrymander more aggressively. Florida is now the fourth red state this cycle to engage in rare mid-decade redistricting, following Texas, North Carolina and Missouri. The new map is likely to face legal challenges due to Florida's Fair Districts amendment, which prohibits redistricting with intent to favor or disfavor a political party or an incumbent.
