All major airlines have suspended flights into major Middle Eastern cities including Dubai, Tel Aviv and Doha due to a joint U.S.-Israeli strike that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and several members of his inner circle. Flight data from Cirium shows that 1,579 flights into the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain were cancelled on March 1 after nearly 3,000 cancellations a day earlier. Local airlines like Emirates and flydubnown have suspended all service, while international carriers including Lufthansa, KLM, Delta and American Airlines have also cancelled any scheduled flights into these countries. American Airlines has suspended a daily flight from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to Qatar from Hamad International Airport, where passengers spent 16 hours in the air without actually leaving their original departure city.
